Toyota has joined the list of Indian car manufacturers who have increased vehicle prices at the start of the year. The Japanese automaker has officially announced a price hike for its popular ladder-frame SUV, the Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Fortuner Legender, making them slightly more expensive for buyers in India.
Toyota Fortuner Price Hike Explained
As per the latest update, the Toyota Fortuner price hike ranges between Rs. 51,400 and Rs. 74,000, depending on the variant and transmission option. This revision applies across most variants in the lineup.
Along with the price increase, Toyota has discontinued the Fortuner Leader Edition, which was positioned as a special edition model. However, the standard Fortuner range continues unchanged in terms of features and mechanicals.
The Toyota Fortuner GR-S remains the flagship variant and now carries a price tag of Rs. 49.59 lakh (ex-showroom). This variant continues to appeal to buyers looking for a sportier and more premium Fortuner experience.

Toyota Fortuner Legender Gets Costlier
The Toyota Fortuner Legender has also seen a notable price revision. After the hike, the Legender now commands a premium of up to Rs. 71,000 over its previous pricing.
Post revision, Toyota Fortuner Legender prices start at Rs. 42.17 lakh (ex-showroom). The Legender is available in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, and buyers can choose between manual and automatic gearboxes. Toyota also offers a mild-hybrid diesel option with the Legender, making it more appealing for those focused on efficiency and performance.
Engine and Gearbox Options
The Toyota Fortuner continues to offer multiple powertrain choices, making it suitable for a wide range of buyers.
- The petrol Fortuner is powered by a 2.7-litre engine that produces 164 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. This engine is known for its smooth performance and reliability.
- The diesel Fortuner uses a 2.8-litre engine delivering 201 bhp. Torque output stands at 420 Nm with the manual gearbox and goes up to 500 Nm with the automatic transmission, offering strong pulling power and excellent highway performance.
Both petrol and diesel engines are available with manual and automatic transmission options, along with 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains, making the Fortuner one of the most versatile SUVs in its segment.
