VinFast VF6 & VF7 Secure 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Ratings

Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast has taken a significant step in establishing itself in India with strong safety credentials. The brand recently opened sales in India with the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs, and both models have now been tested by Bharat NCAP (BNCAP). The results confirm that VinFast has entered the Indian market with a strong focus on occupant safety.

VinFast VF6 & VF7 BNCAP Crash Test Results

Bharat NCAP awarded 5-star safety ratings to both the VinFast VF6 and VF7, placing them among the safest electric SUVs tested under India’s crash safety programme. These ratings apply to all officially sold variants of both models.

VinFast VF6 Bharat NCAP Performance

VINFAST VF6 safety scores
  • Tested weight: 2,252 kg
  • Variants covered: Earth, Wind, Sky
  • Manufacturing: India-spec model produced at VinFast’s Thoothukudi facility, Tamil Nadu
  • Standard safety features: Front, side and knee airbags, ESC, seatbelt reminders

Crash test scores:

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 27.13 / 32
  • Child Occupant Protection: 44.41 / 49

While the VinFast VF6 achieved a full 5-star rating, Bharat NCAP noted weak chest protection for the driver and marginal protection for the driver’s right shin.

VinFast VF7 Bharat NCAP Performance

  • Tested weight: 2,493 kg
  • Variants covered: Wind, Sky
  • Manufacturing: India-spec model assembled in Tamil Nadu
  • Standard safety features: Front, side and knee airbags, ESC, seatbelt reminders

Crash test scores:

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 28.54 / 32
  • Child Occupant Protection: 45.25 / 49

The VinFast VF7 performed slightly better than the VF6 overall. Although driver chest protection was again rated as weak, driver shin protection improved to adequate, contributing to its higher score.
