JSW Motors Limited is all set to make its official entry into the Indian passenger vehicle market with its first SUV launch before Diwali 2026. The company has confirmed that its debut product will be a Jetour T2-based plug-in hybrid SUV, marking a major milestone for JSW Motors in India’s fast-growing SUV segment.
JSW Motors First Car Launch in India
According to the latest updates, JSW Motors will begin production in August 2026, with the SUV being locally assembled in the Indian market. This strong focus on localisation is expected to help JSW price the vehicle competitively and adapt it better for Indian customers.
JSW has clearly stated that localisation will not be limited to a few components. From the battery pack and electric motor to steel BIW (Body-in-White) parts, seats, glass, tyres, and other key components, almost everything will be sourced and manufactured locally in India. This move supports the “Make in India” initiative and may also reduce long-term ownership costs.

Jetour T2-Based Plug-in Hybrid SUV Details
The upcoming SUV will be based on the Jetour T2, a model already available in global markets. The Jetour T2 is known for its rugged and boxy design, which gives it a strong road presence. the design of Jetour T2 is likely to be Land Rover Defender, but the Jetour T2 is expected to be far more affordable, making it attractive to a wider audience in India.
Globally, the Jetour T2 is offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations, and similar seating options are expected for the Indian version as well. This makes the SUV suitable for families as well as adventure-focused buyers.
On pricing, JSW Motors has clearly mentioned that the brand aims to compete in the Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh price bracket. This places the upcoming JSW Jetour SUV directly against popular mid-size and premium SUVs in India.
