New Generation Toyota Hilux Reveals for India, Launching This Month

Toyota has officially teased the new-generation Toyota Hilux for the Indian market, revealing its updated exterior and highlighting some of its key design elements. The upcoming pickup truck is set to make its official debut on July 25, 2026. The new Hilux will continue to be based on the same body-on-frame IMV platform as the previous-generation model.

Next-gen Toyota Hilux Exterior

The front of the new Toyota Hilux features bold “TOYOTA” lettering on the front. Apart from this, it gets a honeycomb design front grill and silver-coloured skid plate, accompanied by LED headlights, black alloy wheels, and black sports roll bars behind the cabin. The pickup has been showcased in a striking bright orange/bronze exterior colour, while the roof gets a shark-fin antenna. At the rear, the Hilux comes with large “TOYOTA” lettering across the tailgate, with the trunk-opening lever positioned just above it. It also gets vertically orientated LED tail lamps, and the rear bumper features an integrated step for easier access to the cargo bed.

Next-gen Toyota Hilux Interior

Toyota has not yet revealed the interior of the India-spec new Toyota Hilux, but based on the global-spec model, it is expected to feature a leather-wrapped steering wheel with Toyota branding at the centre and steering-mounted controls. The cabin is also likely to get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The India-spec model is expected to offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, a surround-view camera system, and multiple storage spaces. The next-generation Hilux will also retain plenty of physical buttons and switches, including dedicated controls for the HVAC system and the four-wheel-drive (4WD) settings.

Next-gen Toyota Hilux Powertrain and Engine

Mechanically, the new Toyota Hilux is expected to continue with the same engine and transmission options as the current model. It is likely to be powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 204 hp. The engine delivers 420 Nm of torque with the 6-speed manual transmission, while the 6-speed automatic transmission produces 500 Nm of torque. Internationally, the next-generation Toyota Hilux is also available with a 48V mild-hybrid system, although it remains to be seen whether this technology will be offered in the Indian market.

The upcoming Toyota Hilux is expected to command a slight premium over the current eighth-generation model, which is currently priced between ₹28.52 lakh and ₹36.00 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
