Volkswagen Tayron Teased for India Launch: The New 7-Seater SUV Is Coming Soon

Volkswagen has officially teased the Volkswagen Tayron SUV ahead of its India launch, confirming its return to the 7-seater premium SUV segment. The new Tayron is expected to launch next month and will be assembled in India at the company’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant, highlighting Volkswagen’s renewed focus on the Indian market. This SUV will sit at the top of Volkswagen’s lineup and will serve as the brand’s new flagship model in India.

Volkswagen Tayron India Launch: What’s Expected?

In terms of size and performance, the Volkswagen Tayron is around 200mm longer than the Tiguan, offering a spacious three-row seating layout similar in dimensions to the Skoda Kodiaq. It is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The SUV is also likely to come with all-wheel drive (AWD) as standard, ensuring strong performance on highways and rough roads alike.

On the feature front, the Tayron is expected to offer premium features similar to the Tiguan, along with additional comfort and convenience elements for third-row passengers. The expected price of the Volkswagen Tayron in India is between Rs. 48 lakh and Rs. 52 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete with rivals such as the Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, Nissan X-Trail, Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, and BYD Sealion 7, making it a strong contender in the luxury SUV space.
