Yamaha is getting ready to strengthen its sporty motorcycle lineup in India with an all-new model – the Yamaha R2. According to the latest updates, the Yamaha R2 India launch is expected in 2026, and this bike will play an important role in Yamaha’s future plans. Yamaha R2 Expected Price in India
The expected price of the Yamaha R2 in India could be around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Since the motorcycle will be manufactured locally, Yamaha has the advantage of keeping production costs under control. This pricing will place the R2 between entry-level sportbikes and more expensive performance motorcycles, making it a value-for-money option for enthusiasts.

Yamaha R2 Rivals in the Indian Market
Once launched, the Yamaha R2 will compete with popular motorcycles like the KTM RC 200, Hero Karizma XMR, Yamaha MT-15, and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. Yamaha R2 Expected Engine and Performance
The upcoming Yamaha R2, internally codenamed 070, is expected to feature a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a displacement of around 200cc or slightly higher. This engine will offer a clear improvement over the Yamaha R15’s 155cc motor, which produces 18.4hp and 14.2Nm of torque. The Yamaha R2 is expected to deliver higher power and torque figures, making it faster and more capable on highways while still remaining easy to ride in city conditions.
